Leopard slugs

Post by Boudicca21 » Fri Jul 19, 2019 3:58 pm

I keep finding slugs in the wormery as suggested in the FAQs, regularly remove them. But other sites say slugs can be beneficial, depending on what kind they are. Almost all the slugs who make it to adulthood (given the number of tiny ones I throw out, I have no idea how the things manage to grow up, but they do) are easily identifiable as leopard slugs. Good or bad? Leave or remove?

Leopard slugs are great helpers in the worm bin and in the garden (so no problem about spreading slugs and their eggs with the castings)
Leopard slugs only eat dead and decaying plant matter, so will ignore living plants. They also eat other slugs so will help with your slug control.

Hope that helps
