Following on from this. I scooped up worms and compost from the sump and returned them to the higher tray. Am adding shredded cardboard. Compost still ends up in the sump so can't see how it will ever reach a level where I can add a second tray. And since as you say worms can't jump how do you get them to move up?

Hi, yea when you put a new tray on and start feeding in that tray most of the worms will move up and into it. Some worms will stay in the lower tray until all the food is gone. If you struggle to fill the first tray do what I suggested above and add used potting mix or garden compost. Once you get two or three trays in place thing will get much easier. Anyway well done of a great start to your worming.
