The paper will make good bedding for our worms regardless of the fact that it is spam.

Dear Willy.

UCG are ok, what about used tea bags? My coworkers seem to switch to tea lately so I get less UCG but a lot of teabags. Would those be all right as well? The tea complimentary so is of the cheapest variety, basically dust instead of leaves.

Hi, worms have no sense of economics and will enjoy tea as much as coffee. Be sure to drain them before feeding or your bin may become too wet. Check that the bags do not have any plastic if you suspect plastic it’s best to empty the bags into your bin and dispose of the rest.

Willy.

Thanks WillyWorm.
I knew they are not fussy but, as with UCG previously, I worried that the tea in larger quantities might be bad for them, alter the pH of the bin or something.
Good to know is not.

Hi, the PH of UCG and Tea are very similar. If you a diverse rang of food and bedding it will act as a buffer and deal with any difference there may be between the UCG and tea.

Have fun be safe
Willy

I know I am being a pain but rather make sure than mess up my bin.

What about adding flour to the bin? I found a few half used bags of flour at the back of the cardboard. I think it is too old to be used for humans so I need to dispose of it.

I was thinking about adding some flour to the other worm food. I blend all the scraps so it would be easy, just sprinkle the flour over and mix a bit.

Is it a good idea or it is going to cause problems? Can I add the flour to my bin or shall I just put it to the compostable refuse bin and let council deal with that?

To start with you are not a pain.
You can use flour as food for your worm bin but (always a but 🙃) use it with care, wheat flour in common with all grain, whole or refined can heat up very quickly and result in problems.
Yea you can just add it to the normal food at the rate of about one desert spoon each feed. You could mix it with water and make a dough, this can be fed cooked or uncooked, but not too much. You could put a light sprinkling over the top of the bedding but, again, not too much. If you keep some dried worm food for occasions when you maybe short of food you can add the dried flour to that and use it in the future.
I regularly give the worms small bits of left over dough and have on occasions given them fairy large amounts of flour over the course of a week.

Have fun, Willy

I think you should reply “on topic” and not use generalisation to creep in via the back door loop-hole
