Healthy worm?

Post by andyww » Sat Dec 29, 2018 11:14 am

Hi,

Had my wormery setup for about a week now. Noticed all my worms have this unsual bloated band around them. Is this normal?

Picture attached.

Thanks Andy.

Hi Andy, yes it’s perfectly normal. It shows the worm is mature and are now able to breed and increase your herd.

Keep up the good work
Willy

The scientific name is the Clitellum (In case you wanted to know)

and from Wikipedia

The clitellum is a thickened glandular and non-segmented section of the body wall near the head in earthworms and leeches, that secretes a viscid sac in which the eggs are deposited.
