Hi
We recommend that you place a brick in the sump, this allows any stray worms that get under the mesh and fall downwards to be able to climb to safety.

As your 2nd tray is going bad, im guessing that your worms aren't in the 2nd level to eat the food there.

Try adding some of the black compost from the bottom (1st) tray in there to get the bacteria etc working on the food, and add food slowly until the worms can catch up.

The worms will carry on eating in the lower levels and will move upwards when the conditions are correct for them

hI
The worms cant climb along the underside of the tray, by adding a brick any worms that fall into the sump, can
1) keep out of any liquid
2) as the wormery trays rest on the sump, they can clamber back up into the trays
3) live happily on / around the brick until removed back into the wormery.

Once a few more trays are added the worms will go upwards more
