Can I use my wormery to breed earth worms for my garden?

If so what breed of worm is best. I do everything to encourage worms in my garden but it really is worm free yet the soil seems ok, not compacted. I believe Badgers were prevalent years ago, maybe they ate all the worms!

Hi tipsy, there are 3 different types of worms i think. The composting ones we use in wormeries are surface dwellers i.e the top few centimetres of soil/leaf litter, earthworms are a completely different group which live deeper in the soil.
