Hello all,
I am looking at geting a wormcity but my only concerns are that during the summer the heat from the sun will be too hot for the wormery.
I have courtyards and can only use 1 for the wormery. That particular yard will get mid to late afternoon sun; will this cause an issue with the wormery. The rest of the time it would be shaded by the house or the courtyard wall.
Are there any tips for me from the experienced users?
My area is Moray in Scotland.
Thanks in advance.
How much sun can the wormery withstand
Re: How much sun can the wormery withstand
Hi, your worms will function best at a temperature of between 4c and 26c but will survive from just above freezing to 30c. Ideally worms prefer similar temperature to us of 20c to 22c.
Is it possible you could provide some shade on hotter days even covering them with a damp blanket would help.

Thanks Willy,
I am trying to explain to the other half the importance of using my other courtyard which is cooler; I might just have to get it and force the issue. Cheers for the reply

Good luck. Remember it’s the temperature that matters not the sunlight.
