The reason they wander is because the wormery is too sterile in the beginning,
Make sure you added some old compost to the mixture.
Don't stress too much about the odd one or 2, they breed quite quickly and are soon replaced

Put the eggshells in the oven and cook them you can then use a rolling pin or similar on them to grind into a powder This is perfect for the wormery as not only does it gently change the PH as Willy says but it also gives the worms grit in their gizzard. Of course, the problem we have in the UK is that we just don't know how cold it's going to be
Sometimes it just rains or like last year it gets really really cold
Horticultural fleece is cheap and readily available and can be wrapped around or placed over the wormery
