Thanx Willy. didn't think about soil water to soak the card board and wash the bin but it that all makes complete sense.
Worms arrived within 24 hours ( reliable wormcity ) I've done as you suggested and there now in there new home.

Hi Alef
I use a blender set on pulse it grinds the shell into very small particles and dust if left on for a bit so I leave the lid on to let it settle.
I also do the same with dried banana skins, peanut shells, pasta, oats and cereals

thanx Guys for your input. Yes I noticed how quickly the skins started to turn mushy so yes I added a bit of shredded cardboard. Willy.......your psychic........I happened to see one on ebay by chance it was cheap so I bid....and I won it so now Ive ordered some more bedding and some worms from Ronn...

my daughter works ay a nursery and acquires unwanted fruit for me, tea bags etc. Has anyone use canary melon skins (the yellow melon).the skins are a bit waxy and I wondered if these were ok (in moderation)

Thank you both for your replies it helps me tremendously. yes willy you interpreted my remarks correctly. I now understand what to expect and the need for the gap. Ive had a sheet of damp news paper on the top but have removed this just didn't think it was necessary as I keep my worms in the garage....

hello WormyMcWormerson yes I too am surprised how quick they eat the food. I'm coming up my sixth week and I have loads of young ones. and likewise I always find one or two in the lid. Really enjoying keeping them, its always nice when I lift the lid and see them.. clearly happy in their environment...
