Tissue
Fruit flies are starting a bit more now and hamster bedding isn’t quite enough, any issues with used tissues or kitchen towel? My bottom tray is looking good, almost all the “white bedding materials” have broken down, my feeding tray looks all right but now thinking of starting next tray above, henc...

Re: About use of second tray
I haven’t been feeding in that mature tray for quite a few weeks now, but they are polishing off the veggie waste in the hamster bedding tray along with any hamster droppings or excess food which is in there. There are just very few worm castings building up in that tray so it is very white! I would...

Re: About use of second tray
I have one tray now which I am leaving and it is composting nicely, with the paper gradually disappearing.my feeding tray is dominated by hamster bedding and any food is processed, with the worm casts distributed elsewhere it seems and not in this tray. There are casts in the lid and lots of casts i...

Re: 1st worm bin
Have they settled down a bit buddy? Hopefully they have come to the conclusion that the wormery is the safest place to be. I’ve read before here that the first generation are a bit like this, once new ones are born they no know better and won’t venture far!

Re: 1st worm bin
Just keep returning them, they will settle down in a few days. I kept my wormery inside a large bin liner at night for the first couple of days in the garage and left the light on as they don’t like the light. The number of escapees reduces quickly, but have a good hunt round, I was finding them eve...

Re: Help! Too many pot worms?
Even if you don’t have any issues, is it worth sprinkling a bit of ground eggshells from time to time, if so, how often?

Worm eggs
Does anyone have any pictures? I had a couple of 2mm looking seeds with a little nubbly bit at the end in my sump when I just checked. I also had two ends of a worm in the sump, half an inch long, but both ends very much alive, wondering if there is a predator hiding in there somewhere!?

Re: About use of second tray
I’m at a similar stage, having changed my top insulating tray into my new feeding tray. So now I’m just adding food to this tray, they’ll still be breaking down the stuff in the one below. In a month I may exchange the bottom insulating tray as i’m Not happy with the shredded office paper I started ...

Babies!
Just a quick question out of interest. Whilst i’m Sure their are young un’s throughout the wormery i see them (one or two) in the lid. Given their size and their apparent lack of mobility how are they getting there? Hitching a ride or climbing on their own accord? Any thoughts?
