Re: what is the right amount of wet?
Hi, having two bins is no harder than one provided you have enough food available for them. I have to scrounge scraps from niegbours to keep my herd fed.
If you do get another bin you won't need the worms you can slip the worms you have into two.
Have fun

Re: what is the right amount of wet?
Hi, you have no reason to stress, things seem to be going well. You are so right it's very easy to over compensate with all things worms, particularly moisture and wetness. One minute it seems right and a few minutes later it's all wrong. The first thing to remember is that worms are very resilient ...

Re: Mourning
Cherjoy, if you have a compost bin in the garden you could put the contents of the trays in there. This will give any remaining worms or eggs a chance to recover and the sauerkraut won't harm the bigger environment.
Good luck

Re: Mourning
Hi Cherjoy, I fear it was death by sauerkraut ð«. I think the sauerkraut would have been too acidic and your worms and could not get away from it. I don't think I would put new worms into the bedding which is left. I would clean the trays out and start again with new bedding and new worms ð. ...

Re: Adding new worms
Hi Perky, the easiest way is to add your new worms to the old bin however you did say your wormery had been "going strong for about 3 years" is there room in you bin for the new worms. Worms will only breed and multiply if there is sufficient room and food for thier young. A normal stacking bin will...

Re: What did you feed your worms today?
Wormy, don't put too much rhuburb leaves in your wormery at any one time. It will generate a lot of heat which could damage your worms, a small amount is great.

Re: Feeding
Hi thanks for your update. Things seem to be going very well, congratulations. Can I suggest that occasionally you lift the bottom tray and check there is no build up of liquid in the sump, some times the tap gets blocked and needs to be cleared.
Looking forward to your next update
Willy.

Re: What did you feed your worms today?
Hi and welcome to the Worm world. It sounds like your off to a great start. Banana peel is great for worms also tea bags (herbal are fine. I have no experience with using peppermint infusion bags so I guess try a little and see what happens) Leaf litter is great for your worms. Leaf litter is classe...
