RE: No Worm Cocoons?
I give mine a pinch of homemade aphrodisiac powder with each feed: it's a mixture of finely ground oats, rice and pasta. Randy worms ahoy!

RE: New wormery leaking?
I also recently purchased a cheap second hand wormery of another manufacturer. The general quality is not as good as Wormcity but it is completely watertight despite being a similar construction for the sump. Maybe there are more seals between the layers on that wormery? The wormcity is not leaking...

Re: Tumble dryer fluff
Yep, lots of polyester and other plastic polymers in that fluff! Worms no likey. There's even plastic in some tea bags, it seems, even the ones that feel like paper. The worms eat all of the papery bit and leave behind a very thin matrix of plastic fibre.

Re: is mould ok?
Maybe I should use a towel the next time I empty my bottom tray. I've tried old t-shirts but the worms eat them too! Every time I feed (twice weekly) it's like a Miami pool party in the sump. ;D

Yes, thank you very much to Willy who gave me reassurance when I was a nervous wormery virgin. My worms are in your debt!

Re: what is the right amount of wet?
Could the flies be fungus gnats? They are black and love to fly in your face since they are attracted to the carbon dioxide you exhale. I had an infestation when my wormery was too wet. It took months to get rid of them. My wormery is in the attic so I left the lid off to help dry it out and stuck u...

Re: What did you feed your worms today?
Rhubarb leaves are going down well with the wormies. I also add a pinch of powdered dry food (oats, rice, pasta) every time I feed because I read somewhere it makes them randy :-* Maybe that's why there's so many worm eggs!

Re: Feeding
My worms love the sump. You get a couple of weird ones that just love to bathe in the puddle of leachate all day. I forgot to block off the bottom tray with a t-shirt this time so every time I feed (only twice a week) I check in the sump and bring them back up to the top tray.
