I’ll make an effort to find a few in the composter and translocate, they will give the slugs some company…

Re: Increasing wormery efficiency
That’s interesting Willy, regarding woodlice. The card board bedding in my trays is quite slow to break down, maybe because i put whole sheets in an gradually tear it up as it softens with moisture. In my bottom two trays it has broken down, and i like the texture of the casting product, but my next...

Re: What did you feed your worms today?
I have managed to post some on the site before, but you need to make them a pretty small file size, less than a Mb for sure. There is a size limit, but i don’t recall what it was! Sry…

Re: First time harvesting
Harvested my bottom trays from each wormery last weekend, and limited worms and eggs in each, but those trays tend to be a bit on the damper side and should have been harvested 2-3 months ago so not really any food for them to eat in there anyway. New top trays added with cardboard and shredded pape...

Re: Lots of worms in sump...
How come you have so much liquid in the sump? Is everything above(food and bedding) very wet? Or is rain getting in. Covering the wormeries in rain is pretty important and in the winter my two wormeries stay in the garage. If there is a lot of rain( or big drop in air pressure) I find that the worms...

Re: Another newbie here in wormcity
Yes, the castings that cardboard produces looks really good and doesn’t hang around as long as the shredded paper. Egg boxes are good also

Re: Another newbie here in wormcity
In my sumps i use an old bathroom sponge to act as a means of getting back up into the layer above. It’s a muddy mess now, and i don’t know if they use it, but it is a helpful tool to mop up any mess in the sump and deal with excess leachate

Re: Second tray...
I have always fed once a week, could probably feed a bit more, but my two bins appear to have been pretty stable for months.in one i have two trays i should harvest and the other one has one tray needing harvesting. My intention is to probably harvest those before starting a new tray in each, both w...

Threadworms
Quick question about this. There are a variety of worms in our wormeries and i assume threadworms are part of that group. I’m sure I’ve seen them in my bins and whilst I have no issue with them in there, the risk of the eggs being picked up either on hands or inhaling through dust is a bit of a conc...
