Hi again John, I think if I was concerned about exposing my worm castings to the light and elements I would spread them later in the evening and gentlly rake or hoe them in to fthe surface of the soil. Hi Vikki, No there is no need to worry. The 'baby worms' sound like they are adult 'pot worm' a baby red worm is white with a red/brown line down it's back an adult pot worm is all white. Today I fed my army of workers some Jerusalem Artichokes, I have had a good crop of Artichokes on the allottement, I just hope they don't have the same affect on my worms as they do on my wife.

That's the idea. I keep a box of dried food; out of date pasta, breakfast cereals that nobody will eat etc. I also use it if the bedding seems to wet, I add some shredded cardboard and paper the feed dry food for a day or so.
