Re: Root maggot
Worm eggs are lemon in colour and shape, there colour gets darker, near brown, when ready to hatch-out. Their size is about the size of a pin head. I tried to send you a picture of one but it won't accept it saying it's to large, the photo that is not the egg lol if you Google "worms eggs" you will ...

Re: Ground bird seed
You will have a tear in your eye when you put the hook into one of your pets lol and a big smile when you get your first fish on home grown worms. "Morning fresh" is not always best when feeding worms. Worms need bacteria to work their food over before they can use it, my worm food sits in the caddy...

Re: Ground bird seed
Stan, you may want to have a word with Ronnie (wormcity) about the quantity of dried food to feed each day/week. I think she uses it for her commercial herd. It could be very easy to overfeed dry food which could lead to problems. I only use dried food to supliment my kitchen scraps so have no expe...

Re: Root maggot
Hi StAnnes. I dont know what you mean by "root maggots" so I can't be sure if they represent any danger to your worms or the castings or not. If you have an outdoor compost bin in the garden you could put any bedding and food stuff in there. Any worms or caccons would have a new home and the rest wo...

Re: Ground bird seed
Hi Stan Both are great ideas. If the veggie slush could be thick like veggie burgers then they would be easier to use and could be frozen in tablespoonsful size on an open tray. Many professional worm breeders only used dry food so no problem to use your seed mix, when you are short of veggie scraps...

Re: Worm genocide?!
I'm with Ronnie cut your losses and start again. Set your bin up with some good bedding, add a little garden compost or soil, which will provide the good microbes and bacteria you need for a healthy bin, after a few days introduce your new worms. With good feeding your herd will thrive and multiply...

Re: Worm genocide?!
Hi www, welcome to the world of worms. You seem to have looked at a number of the obvious possibilities, maybe aliens are the only thing left!!! No don't give up. Firstly if you feel your first worm delivery were in anyway substandard you should inform the company and give them a chance to put thing...

Re: Wormcity Wormery 5 Tray (125 Litre) arriving tomorrow.
Hi Mick2me, sorry to hear of your expieriance with your first purchus of worms. Yea wiping the new plastic and trays, with soil or garden compost diluted in water, will help to prevent the worms leaving your bin. If you can mix some shredded newspaper or shredded corrugated cardboard, in a bucket or...
