Re: All my worms have gone!!
Hi Gareth, it looks like a restart. If the bin smells good then it should be OK to put your knew worms straight in, after dampening of couse. I does look like the bedding got too dry. Are you feeding kitchen waste or dry food? Kitchen waste should provide all the moisture your worms need if you feed...

Re: All my worms have gone!!
Hi Gareth, sorry to hear of your loss. I'm a little confused, before this discovery of the missing worms when was the last time you checked them? I don't think your worms have escaped, if they had you would have found a lot of dried up bodies on the garage floor. Sadly I think your worms may have di...

Re: Ground bird seed
Hi Stan. I did think I could make a straight sided 'skirt' with some 'knicker elastic' at the top. This would slip over the bin and fit just under the lip of the top bin and provide protection from rain down to the sump tap while allowing access to the lid for feeding. You could compleat this onsomb...

Re: Ground bird seed
I'm sure your worms will soon settle. I dont know about Coldiz, its more like the Hilton with every need catered for. We all get a few worms who go down to the sump for some reason. But if you think about it in nature when worms are threatened or scared they burrow deep into the soil to get away. At ...

Re: Ground bird seed
Hi, I'm surprised if the tea towel is a neat fit that so many worms are visiting the sump. It's a good point you make about the disturbance. Worms are senitive to any disturbance in the early days in a new bin. Try ignoring then for a day or two to see if they settle, the ones that go to the sump wi...

Re: Ground bird seed
The size of the tear will depend on where you put your hook lol Did you put some material or weed suppressant fabric in the bottom of the bottom tray to stop escape in that direction. Some worms just like the sump for some reason, they normally grow out of it so I put it down to rebellious teenager...
