RE: What did you feed your worms today?
Merry Christmas. Today I gave my worms their Christmas dinner! For starters they got the "crusty outside" of the baked Camembert, their main course was Brussel sprouts, carrot, green beans, roast potatoes, a little turkey, some stuffing and gravy. For desert it was a mince pie with a dash of cream....

Hi Ronnie, apart from being slow to break-down I would be concerned about all the chemicals that may be on the hair which could harm the worms or even my soil.Just walk down the "hair care" aisle of a supermarket and look at the amount of products to put on your hair it's scary. Worms don't have hai...

RE: Worm free compost
Hi Mick, this is like that other well known question, "how long is a piece of string" It will take a minimum of three weeks for a cocoon to hatch BUT it can take much longer, up to six months or even more. Hatching depends on a number of things, temperature being a major factor. So the location of t...

RE: Getting ready for winter
Hi, I don't know if I'm qualified to answer this I don't feel like a veteran (just look like one). Cooking your worm food is fine. Cooking, freezing and chopping food all break down the cells in the food making it more readly available to the microbs and the worms. Some people gather food in a box/b...

Hi elley, good to hear your worms are OK and moving about. When checking, how much they are eating, that root veg like carrots take a long while to break down enough to become available to the worms.
Enjoy your worm family

Yea that's the way I feed, there is no need to be too regimented lol relax and have fun. My worms are in a small cold greenhouse, in a week or two I will add a layer of bubble wrap over then for added insulation.
Looking forward to your next update.
Good luck

RE: Getting ready for winter
Hi again, if worms are leaving there will be a reason. Worms will happily stay where there is available food, the mositure is right, the temperature is within acceptable limits and that the environment is not anaerobic. Checking that these basics are right will help solve many problems. I don't worr...
