Re: Help - my wormery is full of maggots
Hi sorry to hear your news. It sounds as if your bin as gone anaerobic (that means without oxygen ). Anaerobic bin is typically very wet, smells very bad. If you can still see worms around then it is worth trying to rescue your bin. To do this, open the sump tap and drain off any liquid, dispose of ...

Re: Starting a new tray - no worm juice yet?
Hi well done sounds like your off to a great start with your worms. Although it’s called “worm juice” it’s really got little to do with your worms!!! You can/could get this liquid without having any worms in the bin, the amount you get and how quickly you get it depends on how wet the food is that y...

Re: Holiday preparation
Your worms diet sounds ideal, sorry I’m not sure what you are referring to when you say “don’t know what and how to give it to them” If you mean while you are on holiday then you need not worry too much your worms will be fine for six weeks or more living on what is in the bin. If you are leaving th...

Re: Are these dendrobaenas?
Hi Richard, welcome to the forum, sorry but I can’t open the other links either. It can be very difficult to identify accurately the species of worms without a microscope etc. I have never felt the need to know exactly what verity of worms I have. Is there a reason you need this info. Even if you st...

Re: RELOCATING THE WORMERY
Hi, I would give the herd their normal feed, then brake everything down to individual units with the worms, bedding and castings in place. Put them in black bags, and transport to where ever. When you get to the new location reassemble the units in the same order as they were as soon as possible. Do...

Re: Sunflower husks
Your worms will be fine on the diet you are feeding plus a few kitchen scraps. I often find worm food! Last week I collected two carrier bags of wind fall apples. Our local Tesco’s gives the children fruit, when they have eaten is many leave the peel/core in the trolly. If you can get a small amount...
