Re: Sunflower husks
I know I am being a pain but rather make sure than mess up my bin. What about adding flour to the bin? I found a few half used bags of flour at the back of the cardboard. I think it is too old to be used for humans so I need to dispose of it. I was thinking about adding some flour to the other worm ...

Re: Sunflower husks
Thanks WillyWorm.
I knew they are not fussy but, as with UCG previously, I worried that the tea in larger quantities might be bad for them, alter the pH of the bin or something.
Good to know is not.

Re: Sunflower husks
Dear Willy.
UCG are ok, what about used tea bags? My coworkers seem to switch to tea lately so I get less UCG but a lot of teabags. Would those be all right as well? The tea complimentary so is of the cheapest variety, basically dust instead of leaves.

Re: Setting up another worrmery
Thank you so much for your tips.
Second tray sounds good enough. I do not fancy touching the feeding tray so rather move a whole tray than dig worms and castings from the top.
Thanks once again

Setting up another worrmery
My first wormery is such a success that I will get another one. This time just a housing, to save on costs. How do I seed it with worms? I was thinking about moving one tray from my established one. Is this a good idea? If yes, which tray should I move, the top one, the one below? I have three tray ...

Re: Winter
I have a similar problem, wormery outside. Decided to order small (49 x 69 x 130 cm) PVC grenhouse and set it up over the wormery, plus lined it inside (sides and back) with old carpet. During assembly I left the opening unobstructed by skipping a few poles. So far so good, worms safe from elements ...

Re: RELOCATING THE WORMERY
Done. We managed to keep the wormery intact during transport to minimise disruption. I call it a success, worms are doing well and mostly stay inside. Thanks for all the tips

RELOCATING THE WORMERY
My wormery is going to be relocated. Short trip, few miles but still a journey. I wonder how to approach this task. Can I split the wormery in segments and place each one in a bag or shall I aim for keeping the whole thing intact during transport? How the worms will react to being moved and disrupte...

Re: Sunflower husks
Oh, and I found perfect moisture mat if someone do not like to play with wet cardboard or such. Poundshop does two round coco coir flower basket liners for £1. It fits perfectly in a bin, one as it is and the other cut in quaters to cover the corners. It keeps everything covered and worms love to bu...

Re: Sunflower husks
Thanks for assurance :) . I try to give them diverse food but I realised my household do not produce much of the right type of scraps. I even spoke to canteen staff at work and now they try to keep for me their scraps but, as they are quite busy and often forget, most stuff I get is the melon peels ...
