Re: Why is the sky so high?
Hi WW, Thanks for the reply, lots of good info for which I'm grateful. Last night it was really tipping it down with rain and I went to check things just before bed. I had clearly thwarted the Great Escape. There were 50 or so worms in the roof between the covering cardboard and the roof itself all ...

Why is the sky so high?
Only 3 days in, I know, but I am starting to observe a pattern. During the day time, worms remain in their new home, no attempted escapes. Night time, about ten to twenty escapes (discovered first thing in the morning). Are worms nocturnal? if they are, how come? It's always dark underground. The we...

Re: Worms are here!
Hi lilwriggler, Well you were spot on with your prediction. About 20 worms stuck in the bin bag this morning and about the same in the sump. I left the ones in the sump alone but rescued the ones in the bin bag and they are all back in now. It's been a miserable day here today with lots of rain but ...

Worms are here!
Hi, After a shaky start yesterday, Parcel Force guy got lost and then didn't book the parcel back into the depot, I have now set up my worms (The Unsullied of course :D ) as per the thorough instructions. Bin bag in place, just in case. It's really tempting to take the roof off to have a look, but I...

Re: Curry and spicy food
Hi Willyworm, Wow, ok, a lot longer than I imagined. I have a shady/cool place that won't be a problem. I will make sure the walls of the bin have a good layer of dried goop on them. I have also realised there is a place in the garden (near the kitchen) where they can shelter from the rain. It won't...

Re: Curry and spicy food
Hi Willyworm, that's brilliant, thanks very much. Just one other question, if I am to set up the bin 24hrs in advance, this will mean that the worms will have to spend an extra day in their package before being released. Is this a problem?
Thanks,
Greyworm
Thanks,

Re: Curry and spicy food
Willyworm, Thanks for the reply. Ok, I will keep them on small amounts of chopped veg when I first start feeding them properly and try the 4 corners idea but from what I've read so far it looks like I can expect a slow start with the changes towards cooler weather and more rain. In terms of bones I ...

Re: Curry and spicy food
Hi Smallthings, and thanks for the reply. It won't be too much of a problem to avoid the spicy meats as we have two caddies, one for cooked meat and bones etc. and one for uncooked veggies and green material. The division was set up for my garden compost heap. It does suggest on the website that mea...

Curry and spicy food
Hi, My first post and I'm hoping to buy a wormery in the next few days. I have a question about spicy foods, can the worms eat them? My partner is Asian and makes the most wonderful spicy food (as well as western food) would I have to separate out the spicy items from non-spicy? Also I see bones are...
