Re: Increasing wormery efficiency
I’m not convinced the woodlice are too happy in there. There are a fair few dead woodlice as well as some that seem fine. Not sure whether they are different species, but the same woodlice seemed happy in the compost bin they were harvested from. I will see how they progress.

Re: What did you feed your worms today?
Here’s a question. I have been composting cotton pads (only had water on them, nothing else) and they seem to breakdown well. I now have a month or two whilst that batch matures so i was thinking of putting these in the wormeries as a further carbon source, i can’t see any issues with that, can you ...

Re: Increasing wormery efficiency
By way of an update, i added more woodlice to each wormery. The worms appeared happy and a number of the original woodlice i added were not so visible, but found a few in lower trays pottering around. I will keep an eye to see how visible they will be next time i check.

Re: Increasing wormery efficiency
That’s interesting Willy, regarding woodlice. The card board bedding in my trays is quite slow to break down, maybe because i put whole sheets in an gradually tear it up as it softens with moisture. In my bottom two trays it has broken down, and i like the texture of the casting product, but my next...

Re: What did you feed your worms today?
I have managed to post some on the site before, but you need to make them a pretty small file size, less than a Mb for sure. There is a size limit, but i don’t recall what it was! Sry…

Re: First time harvesting
Harvested my bottom trays from each wormery last weekend, and limited worms and eggs in each, but those trays tend to be a bit on the damper side and should have been harvested 2-3 months ago so not really any food for them to eat in there anyway. New top trays added with cardboard and shredded pape...

Re: Lots of worms in sump...
How come you have so much liquid in the sump? Is everything above(food and bedding) very wet? Or is rain getting in. Covering the wormeries in rain is pretty important and in the winter my two wormeries stay in the garage. If there is a lot of rain( or big drop in air pressure) I find that the worms...
