Weird sausage like eggs in my wormery
Found these odd things in the lid of my wormery today. They look like about 1 cm long uncooked sausages (Gray and specled). Is this some kind of baby slugs?

Aliens in my wormery
Not sure if I need to care about this but I have a massive fruit fly infestation in the wormery plus slugs. Do they actually damage the wormery as such? The flies are a nuisance when you open the bin and slugs in general are a foe of mine.

Restart after winter
I've finally taken the wormery out the the coal cellar and put it back in the garden and all seems fine in there. Lots of little worm trying to escape plus slugs (how they get in is beyond me). During the winter the stuff in the trays has broken down nicely but they are all half empty bar the bottom...

Re: Compost falling into the sump
Hi Willy, Thanks for the reply The wormery with one tray had been overwintering since late October last year (7 months!). I realised why my idea wasn't that good as soon as I read your reply. No way the worms would be able to get through to the next level. I might try to put a mesh of some sort unde...

Compost falling into the sump
What do people do to stop it from falling through the bottom tray and into the sump? The cardboard I put in as a barrier has gone and the compost is dropping through (it was very in excellent condition)
Was thinking of getting some kind of membrane from a garden centre to stop this from happening.

Re: Overwintering your wormery
With my old one, I stopped feeding them during the winter months and they seemed to survive that ok. Might just give them the odd snack tough as this wormery is bigger.
Thanks for your advice!

Re: Overwintering your wormery
Moved the workers into the living room last night, which was lucky as it is just above zero degrees in the morning. Will move it into the coal cellar where it is usually stable around 5 degrees.

Overwintering your wormery
I used to have a small wormery that was quite easy to move indoors however the wormcity one is quite big so I am not so keen on lugging it through my flat to the coal cellar. It is currently in quite a sheltered position. Is it likely to survive outdoors (I'm in Bristol) if I leave it out? Was think...

Old compost from blighted tomato plants
For the first time ever my tomato plants has caught blight and I wonder if I can add the used compost to the wormery or will I just cause more problems next year? My understanding is that don't put the plants in as they are infected but the soil might be fine as it is an airborne disease.

tea leaves and wormeries
Hi, I know that tea bags are fine to feed your wormery but I am quite sure that I have read some where that they do not like tea leaves which if true could be a bit of a bummer for me as I drink copious amounts of loose leaf tea and would like to be able to compost it. Can you or should you avoid it...
