Re: What did you feed your worms today?

Yeah I'm careful with my grass clippings. There's only a thin layer in each wormery and there's plenty of shredded paper and cardboard in there too to dilute it. I find that the worms will dig into it as and when they decide it's okay to do so. 🙂👍

Re: What did you feed your worms today?

I topped up all my wormeries with grass clippings, shredded paper and coffee grounds yesterday. The grass clippings are beneath the paper.

Re: Losing the will to worm

I overwinter my wormeries in my greenhouses. They've done brilliantly.

Re: Where should my wormery live?

I used to cover my wormeries with a polythene sheet outdoors to stop rain getting in, but these days I leave them uncovered and open to the elements, making sure I drain off the leachate often though. Over winter though, I keep them in my greenhouse where they are doing brilliantly. I harvested a bu...

Re: Coffee grounds

I've been getting grinds from our local Costa. I must have had about 20kg from them so far and there's plenty more where that comes from. The staff are really friendly and are more than happy to give me them. I've promised them I'll buy a coffee there soon lol. My car smells of coffee now too :D I s...

Re: What did you feed your worms today?

We had Chinese tonight so the worms had a wee bit of curry and rice and chow mein. :)

Re: Leachate friend or foe

I'd never heard it called leachate until I came to this forum. Like you though I put it on my plants with no bad effects as far as I'm aware.

Re: Couple of questions

Thanks for the reply Ronnie. Seeing as virtually all my gardening involves food produce I think I'd better give the cat poop experiment a miss.

Stick a bit of plumbers mate or silicon around the washers if your tap joint is dripping.
