Re: Damaged worms
Just catching up on the forum and read this thread with a lot of interest. I had something similar with my worms, but it doesn’t sound like it got quite so advanced. They looked swollen about a third down their length and pinched either side of the swollen bit. Looked awful. I was having a few issue...

Re: tea leaves and wormeries
I would recommend giving them a really good squeeze before you put them in though. They can retain a surprising amount of liquid.

Re: Slugs in the bin
Really?? Wow. Hope they’re the slugs in my bin. The only thing I found is this https://www.permaculture.co.uk/articles/20-ways-control-slugs-permaculture-garden-or-allotment step 1 is the “know your enemy”. But it only shows 3 bad ones, and the large black is apparently ok, but one of the bad ones a...

Slugs in the bin
In one of my bins I seem to also be breeding slugs. They’re significantly outnumbered by worms, but it’s not really what I had envisaged when I started. I’m worried about using the compost from this bin for anything other than mature plants. Does anyone have any experience? Or any guidance on how to...

Re: Leachate friend or foe
I moved my bins inside last winter and they’ve been there ever since. I’ve since started doing what George Pilkington does and put the leachate back in the bin. I put shredded paper and card in the top layer to absorb some of this and leave the lid off like Wormy Wormerson now the weather’s warm to ...

RE: Moving inside
Haha! Telly is pretty rubbish! I'm sure the greenhouse would've been ok, as I'm more experienced now and would check more than just the top layer! Still don't understand how I ended up with so much water. But... I met zero resistance from my other half when asking to bring them in. I may just 'forge...

Moving inside
Decided this year that I would move the worms inside for the winter after trying the greenhouse last year. It's been pretty cold where they're situated outside recently and they were really starting to slow down. Seeing everyone else's comments on how much their worms eat makes me think I don't have...

RE: Leachate friend or foe
I don't see how I would ever think my bin wasn't wet enough! It is plastic though and I understand he has wood ones, so maybe that makes a difference?
